Today's rumage at the op shop yeilded this 70's sewing book all about how to sew for yourself, your family and your home. I love the tips in these 60's and 70's sewing books, everything is made the 'right' way - no overlockers, just beautiful pressed out seems. There was an assumption that everyone was born with the ability to sew and draft, so there are no short cuts or lengthy explinations (which I would like at times)....I am just so in love with the pink and white pants - and the gingham dress just melts my heart!

I Heart Michael Miller
I bought this Michael Miller Fabric called 'Darlings' years ago, when 'Home Yardage' was open in the city - oh how I loved 'Homed Yardage'! The choice for good quality fabric seems to be getting less not more. The places I haunt these days are 'The Fabric Remnant Wharehouse', 'Spotlight', e-bay and op shops. Thought I would ask my tiny readership where they get their fix? So there's the question , where do you buy your fabric?

I've been tagged ..... first time! You have to list 7 random habits/facts about yourself and write them on your blog, then tag 7 other people to do the same. NEARLY all of the blogs I visit have already done the 7 habits/facts 7 tag thing! 1) When no one is home I like to make really thin, sweet crepes for myslef, with lemon and caster sugar, it's just something I really like to do/eat alone 2) I love crappy reality TV, especially 'Wife Swap' the UK one 3) I am obssessed with shoes and boots, all shoes and boots, but particulary 1970's wedges, I dream about shoes and boots 4) I didn't get my driver's license untill I was 37 5) I can't stand the teddy bears in waistcoasts motif thing that you see so often on baby items (clothes, stencilled onto furniture etc... yuech - hate it) 6) I'm really scared of horses, but I love them - how unfortunate! 7) Due to the fact that I was a bit of a tomboy when I was younger, I was given the nickname 'Tommy' which stuck, through the 80's and 90's I was known exclusively as Tommy, and Big D only ever calls me Tom or Tommy I'm having problems using my hyperlink, will post later with 7 tagees!

A Skirt a day!
I decided to use just a leedle bit of this fabric to make a skirt, I've used a pin whale cord which is rather fetching with it! I like the fact that the print is kind of over-sized

My local op shop came through today, after months of no fabric I found 2 really big pieces of this retro canvas, love the colours, I have four 60's Tessa dining chairs that need covering and think this might be the perfect thing. Oh and how could I pass up this peculiar looking poodle for a buck?

I've made this skirt in prepared-ness for a shop at Whamaia (inspired by Ingrid from www.lottielulu.blogspot.com) (sorry about the long address, haven't worked out how to do it any other way, like all the other clever bloggers!) the fabric is perfect for Autumn - so I'm calling it "Autumn Twirl" twirl cause the skirt is really full and circular, I like the rocakabilly styling of this one.
