Pre School Project (Phase 2)

There's 18 of these, drying on the kitchen table.
The kids were fantastic, and super quick, I allowed an hour, they had this done in under 15 mins!
They've made their squares, now I have to turn it into a quilt.
Some of the kids were a bit perplexed by this craft activity - and some had trouble imagining the end result - can't wait to see their faces when it's all done!
I had a great time just hanging out in P's class, chatting with the kids, playing pre-school games, and watching Little P at play, in her natural environment.

Pre School Project (Phase 1)

One of Parker's pre-school friends calls adults 'the humans'. I'm a bout to go amongst them. We are going to make a quilt. I'll post an update later, with some pics. Wish me luck fellow Humans!

It Was Dark As I Drove The Point Home

There's instructions inside on how to make a cushion bed head, I'll let you draw your own conclusions .... Andi, I know you will! .... A rare Op Shop delight also in the form of 'Attic in the Wind' - just the most beautiful children's book I've seen. Here are some of the pictures, I wanted to scan them all! (Published in 1966).

I'm so taken with this book, I love the black ink with the colour,
each page is gem,
think I'll have to scan more to show you another day!

ooh, forgot one!

You Like Orange?

I likey the orange!
Some random orange-ness from around our house today, cold and wet day here in Sydney. Orange always cheers me up!

Pressing the 'locator' button on the phone, to try and find the handset, reminds me of playing 'hot and cold' when I was a kid.

I have to press this button lots, cause I wander around the house, as I talk, picking things up and putting them down, then I leave the phone in the last room I was in.
I am listening to you though Mum,
really I am!

I Would Go Out Tonight

But I haven't got a stitch to wear. A friend called with a spare ticket to Paul Weller tonight, I declined the generous offer. What's happening to me? I'd rather just stay in and knit my scarf. Putting it down to winter! So I've been spring cleaning (see what I mean? WTF is going on???) I just love it when everything is back in it's place, benches cleaned, side tables dusted - I do NOT enjoy the process, but love the end result.

In between my domestic rush, I've been looking back through 'Inside Out' Mags from 2006- back when it was still good.
Sharing these photos, and very much enjoying the fine art of placement!
I've been making things, as well, more photos of the crafty to come very soon. I'm going to put my apron on and see what baking needs to be done, then I'll fluff the pillows and have an early night!

Have fun at the concert!

I've Been in The House Too Long

Meet 'Haus Frau'.... my representation in cloth of how I see myself.
Yes, I smoke, no I'm not proud of it.
Parker is scared of her, and so am I. She's going to the Omnific Assembly as part of a group exhibition called 'Totem, Dolls With Soul' she will be hung in Federation Square as part of the Melbourne Fringe. I'd love to hear from anyone else who is taking part, leave a comment so I can swing by your blog/website and have a squiz.

I Started Something

A little halter dress for a special little niece who is on the cusp of turning 4!
And, finished (faux) button-down skirt for same little girl,
vintage fabric and buttons, definitely channelling our Ethel on this one!
An op shop visit, HAVE to on Tuesday. My glasses match my tablecloth, is that like curtains matching carpet? Pre-shcool news: Little P has moved on from 'being a doggy' to pretending that she's dead. Her pre-school teacher tells me that she lays very still with her arms folded on her chest and her eyes closed, in the middle of the playground. Yesterday the teacher asked what she was doing, and she opened one eye and said "I'm dead, but I'm waiting for my Prince to come and kiss me so I can be alive again." Fairy tales good or bad? I don't want to read too much into this, I very much doubt she'll be waiting around for a Prince to come and make her alive when she's in her teens. She's just play-acting, having a good time with it all - so I'm not worried about her latest 'role' as dead princess in the playground, she'll move on to the next thing soon!

Stop Me If You Think That You've Heard This One Before

I've been tagged by Drewzel, for a 'Tree of Happiness Award' So um, thanks very much. I have to list 6 things that make me happy, and then tag 6 people to play, who will (I presume) list 6 things that make them happy! So here are 6 things that are making me happy right now: 1. Miss B's (pictured) soft, white belly - gorgeous. 2. Miss P using very long words, in context but with funny pronunciation. 3. The gently hum of my sewing machine 4. Spring, ALMOST springing - cherry blossoms blooming (my favourite flower) 5. Being with my girlfriends: having coffee, dinner, drinks etc. 6. Big D's bread and butter pudding. all fairly simple stuff really! Now, I'd like to know what is making these girls happy at the mo: Ingrid, Andi, Pip, Leah, Alexandra and Linda

1964

Redcar, North Yorkshire, Mum, Dad and Leah.

A year after this came Tim, then a year later a move to Africa and me.

I like this photo, my Mum is kind of smiling,
but she still looks like she's thinking 'Oh fuck, what have I done?'
The years that followed in Africa she looked more and more pissed off.

When Parker looked at the photo, she asked: 'Is that Harry Potter Mum?'

'No Parker, it's Granma' - does though hey?
Sorry Mum!

Thanks Victoria

look what came in the mail! Two gorgeous prints via Victoria at Dear Meagan,
it was Victoria's Birthday, so she gave away a print of your choice,
and then sent an extra one - how extraordinary! I'm thrilled, we love them both!
Found this today, made me laugh, Parker doesn't play with dolls much,
all the Barbies in our house have been presents.
She looks comfy in her chamber I think!
