Winter, the garden starts to look very bare, apart from some Autumn flowers on the ground, and this poinsettia.
I start to hibernate at this time of year, and it's when I get more time in the kitchen. I'm the baker, and casserole maker. My mantle may be seriously threatened this year, as Big D is becoming rather passionate about cooking. I don't mind sharing. It's funny how the longer you are together the more 'mingled' things become, when we first met, I had my own definite music shelves, now they are intertwined, I had my own book shelves etc .... as long as the underwear drawers always remain separate I'll be happy!

Oh yes, don't start mixing those up. I so long to get into my poor waterlogged garden. But, yes, casserole making is also taking over at my house. I cook three nights a week, my partner three nights and one night is "catch and kill", where everyone does their own. I am starting to sit and plan my meals, one so I don't waste anything when I do the shop, nor have to run out for missing ingredients, and two for the sheer pleasure of going through the recipe books.
I love hibernation time too, means more sewing (hopefully) for me... and I'm thinking of a big old veggie lasagne tonight!
have you checked out the Sunbeam outlet in Alexandria (NSW that is). I'm going to the melb one tomorrow to get a slow cooker, they are the only brand I trust! Don't want a dodgy one that may burn my house down!
It must be the weather having a similar effect over here - usually we are the (without meaning to) vegetarians, but I find myself speniding a whole lot of time thinking about a good meaty stew...
I love this time of year too, winter seems late in coming but so glad it's here. Yes our shelves have been well mixed for years but in the beginning I felt it had to be separate
Thanks for the reminder that there are good things about winter too! We've had three nights in a row of -4 C which is super cold for us in Hamilton, NZ. Bbrrrr.
