An art work I really like from Parker this week. I'm just fascinated by the way she writes her name, look at the 'k' - it's like a spider! She's the quirkiest little person. But she's been very 'emo' this past week. Pulling my hair out type stuff, she does this every now and again, think it's just a mental growth spurt, usually after a week or so, she comes good again, so just riding this one out, exercising the 'Time Out' method, and hoping that things improve before the school hols start. Things are pretty quiet on the home front at the moment, I'm busy making dresses for summer - so should have some craft to show soon. We're going to Cirque de Soliel on Saturday, so I guess Parker may formulate an idea in her head that she'd like to run off with the Circus, I had the same plan, but the Circus I'd been to had weird clowns, bearded ladies and smelly, unhappy animals. Don't think I would have been happy in the long run!

I had my daughter and another 5 in a week yr old for 4 hrs today, 'emo' is a good word for it! Absolute nightmare, I feel I had a 'meltdown' and was using the 'corner' threat a lot. It almost seems hormonal how feral they can become, when they are teens we'd blame it on that! We WILL get through, I keep thinking and chanting with my friends :)
Beccasaurus is nearly right. It actually is a hormone burst. Four/five years old is when they have their second rush of sex hormones - at about this age you start to see the gender differentiations really become noticeable. Girls get girlier and bitchier and moody and boys get more physical - obviously it is played out dictated by their personality and not every little boy will start hitting things with hammers, but as a general stage marker - your wee one IS a proto-teenager. Congratulations ;-)
kids, eh? my youngest spent his first year of school speaking only cat...(ie, answering everything with a miaow). Talk about FRUSTRATING.
Enjoy the circus. We're going to our school's circus tonight AND tomorrow night. every class has to do an 'act'. Pity they put our boys' classes on on different nights.
How's the beadie holding up?
Yeah, they're all a bit emo I reckon!
these comments are so funny and reassuring! every couple of weeks my dh becomes convinced there is some major psycological deficiency going on with my 3.5 yr old (who is also no where near being able to write his name BTW. ferral emo - i stare at him in disbelief like how did you come from me? like what was the point in all that bloody tedious devotional attachment parenting?!!!
just stumbled on your blog and loving it - parker is such a great name x
LOVE the artwork. That one's a keeper for sure. And I LOVE how she writes her name. I love how kids do cool stuff - and then some!
